Cloud computing Infrastructure

Cloud computing, an internet based computing where software, shared resources and information are served to devices such as computers, electricity grid. In this details about how the work is getting done is hidden from its users. It describes a new consumption, delivery and supplement model for IT services. It is kind of by-product that provide access to remote sites accessible through internet.

The concept of cloud computing was first given in 1960 when John McCarthy said that computation would be organised for public utility. The actual term ‘cloud’ is borrowed from the telephony in which telecommunications company offers dedicated point to point connection, virtual private network (VPN) service at very low cost. By some switching traffic techniques these companies utilize network bandwidth more efficiently. The cloud symbol was used for denoting the demarcation point in between. Generally cloud computing users do not own physical infrastructure. Users use the same physical infrastructure on rent to avoid capital expenditure. They only for the resources they use as service and charges are applied per unit time. We can say it is similar to electricity consuming. As there are multiple tenants that improve computing utilization rates because servers are not left idle unnecessarily.  But the side effect is dramatically rising in computer usage.

In cloud computing there are many clouds and each cloud typically comprises of multiple components of cloud, the cloud architecture involves delivery of cloud computing. The two main components of cloud computing are, one is front end and other one is backend. As the name suggests frond end is kind of interface which is meant for users use. It is seen by the user of this service. It involves the user’s network; computer and applications are used to use the cloud using some user interface such as web browser. The backend for the cloud computing architecture is cloud itself encompassing various servers, computer and storage devices.

Types of cloud

Public cloud or also known as external cloud, in this resources are provisioned on fine-grained, self-service over internet, using some web service or web application, from no online-site third party providers.

Community cloud is used where many companies or organizations have alike requirements and seek for sharing infrastructure to realize cloud computing benefits. It not as cheap as public cloud, actually it more expensive but it offers high level of privacy, security and policy compliance. Google’s clod is example if community cloud.

The environment of hybrid cloud consists of multiple external and/or internal providers. By integrating services of cloud computing can have ease of transiting to public cloud and can avoid issues like PCI compliance

Private cloud was introduces by Douglas in his book in 1966. The concept was based upon straight comparison with some other industries e.g. electricity industry and wide use of hybrid models to mitigate the risks. Internal cloud and private clouds also described as neologisms.

There are many cloud service providers and best of them are listed below:

Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Sales-force, HP (these are the best cloud service providers throughout the world).
